Backing up to tape is a key component in a complete storage strategy. Tape drives can be used for creating daily and weekly backups that allow customers to remove information off-site and can be used for archival purposes to retain data for years. The SDLT 600 is designed for the customer whose storage needs is outgrowing the capacity of their current DLT and SDLT drives. They are ready to move up in capacity and performance because they do have strict limitations on their backup window. The SDLT 600 provides double the capacity and performance over the SDLT 320 and more than double for customers transitioning from previous generation DLT drives such as the DLT VS80.

The HP StorageWorks SDLT 600 Tape Drive offers a reliable DLT based backup solution. With 600 GB capacity compressed, the SDLT 600 provides highest capacity available for DLT mid-range customer. The SDLT 600 Tape Drive has a transfer rate of 72 MB/sec compressed. The native capacity is 300 GB, and the uncompressed transfer rate is 36 MB/s.

The SDLT 600 Tape Drive comes with features such as HP StorageWorks Library and Tape Tools (L&TT) for installing, managing and troubleshooting the drive and media. It is compatible with native Windows, Backup Exec and CA ARCServe and other backup software applications. Additionally, the SDLT 600 Tape Drive is read compatible with the HP StorageWorks SDLT 320 media.

The SDLT 600 supports One Button Disaster Recovery (OBDR) dramatically reducing downtime in the case of a disaster. This drive has the new Ultra 160 SCSI Interface, the fastest parallel SCSI interface available. It offers the improved Digital Data Rate Response Agent that supports a new 16 channel read write head. The SDLT 600 also offers improved tape manageability and increased reliability over previous generation SDLT drives.
